Hello, LIFESIGNS community! We have some exciting news to share today.

LIFESIGNS is thrilled to announce the winner of our First Annual T-Shirt Design Challenge!

Meet Josiah, a talented 9-year-old CODA—Child of Deaf Adults—whose creativity and passion captured the heart of our community.

Josiah’s design brilliantly incorporated the interpreter logo from the original LIFESIGNS logo, honoring our roots while celebrating the interpreting profession.

His design proudly displays ‘I

LIFESIGNS / INTERPRETERS’ in sign language, a message that truly reflects our mission to bridge communication and foster inclusion.

His enthusiasm and thoughtful design remind us of the importance of empowering the next generation to embrace language access and advocacy.

LIFESIGNS Announces Winner of First Annual T-Shirt Design Challenge

Los Angeles, CA — LIFESIGNS is thrilled to announce the winner of our inaugural T-Shirt Design Challenge: Josiah, a talented 9-year-old CODA (Child of Deaf Adults), whose creativity and passion captured the heart of our community.

Josiah’s winning design brilliantly incorporated the interpreter logo from the original LIFESIGNS logo, honoring our roots while celebrating the interpreting profession. His design proudly displays “I

LIFESIGNS / INTERPRETERS”, a message that resonates deeply with our mission to bridge communication and foster inclusion.

When asked about his inspiration, Josiah shared his love for school, dinosaurs, and his dream of becoming a police officer when he grows up. His enthusiasm and thoughtful design remind us of the importance of empowering the next generation to embrace language access and advocacy.

Josiah’s dad was thrilled to receive the news that his son won, expressing pride in Josiah’s creativity and connection to the interpreting community.

The LIFESIGNS T-Shirt Challenge was created to engage our community in a fun, creative way while promoting awareness of interpreting and Deaf culture. Josiah’s design will be featured on official LIFESIGNS merchandise, and he will receive a special recognition award for his outstanding contribution.

Theme: Building an Accessible Future—Equality, Empowerment, and Deaf Leadership

We are excited to invite any deaf* youth to participate in the 1st Annual LIFESIGNS, Inc. T-Shirt Design Challenge! This is your opportunity to express your creativity and promote accessibility, equity, and leadership within the Deaf and hard of hearing community through the power of art.

What Is This Challenge?

Design a T-shirt that celebrates the journey toward a more accessible and inclusive world—led by and for the Deaf and hard of hearing community. Your artwork might include themes of access to communication, equality, leadership, or the future of Deaf empowerment.

The winning design will:

• Be printed on official LIFESIGNS t-shirts!

• Be used in promotional materials and events.

• Help launch the LIFESIGNS, Inc. Scholarship Fund—supporting Deaf and hard of hearing students pursuing college or career training!

Design Guidelines

• Format: Original artwork submitted in digital format (PDF, PNG, or JPEG preferred). Hand-drawn designs can be scanned or photographed clearly.

• Colors: Use up to 3 colors in your design.

• Size: Design should fit within a standard 10×10 inch area.

• Content: Reflect uplifting themes of accessibility, equality, Deaf pride, and leadership.

• Deadline: September 26, 2025

• Submission: Email your completed design to [email protected] with your full name, age, school name, and a short explanation (2–3 sentences) of your design.
